David M Nehring Mr. Townsend ENGL 1302 6 November 2016 Title ââ¬Å"One hundred and fifty years ago, the monster began, this country had become a place of industry. Factories grew on the landscape like weeds. Trees fell, fields were up-ended, rivers blackened. The sky choked on smoke and ash, and the people did, too, spending their days coughing and itching, their eyes turned forever toward the ground. Villages grew into town, towns into cities. And people began to live on the earth rather than within it.â⬠ââ¬â¢ Patrick Ness. Environmental pollution is one of the greatest dangers to our planet. Pollution destroys our natural environment and jeopardizes human existence. Itââ¬â¢s obvious the economy finds numerous advantages in technological development. However, harmful toxins produced from the work of industrial facilities and construction sites as well as the use of transportation contaminate and pollute the environment considerably. Pollution is a process of contaminating the environment in a way that it becomes hazardous and unsafe to use. The major types of environmental pollution are air, water, noise, thermal, soil and light pollution. Throughout the last decade, the world has witnessed a substantial rise in environmental pollution. The effects of pollution are devastative and impact more than 200 million people around the world. A report from the NGO Pure Earth suggests that ââ¬Å"one out of seven deaths occur due to pollutionâ⬠.
